In the early 80`s a strange new car made it`s way onto American streets. It was strange with it`s gull wing doors but no one could say it wasn't fun and pleasantly different. The DeLorean, as it`s known, had a very limited production run. But it`s making a come back with one or two being produced a month.

There are said to be about 6,500 used original DeLoreans still operational. They can be resold anywhere up to the $50,000 range for one in mint condition. That is nearly 4 times the original cost. The newer ones have a price of around $57,000 and there is a 12 month wait for it.

The DeLorean was the symbol of the 1980`s. It was even a huge part in the Back To The Future movies. The unique doors made it look like something from outer space. This feature was designed so that you needed less parking area to allow for the door opening. One other major difference from others vehicles, was that it had a non-structural fiberglass under body that had brushed stainless panels attached to it.

There is an ever growing market for parts and upgrades. There is everything from replacement stainless panels to air conditioning units. You can get new old stock parts. There is even a market for collectibles like 1/24 models, posters, and gifts like key chains and mugs. It has a nostalgic value to many and a new following emerging.
